We’ve all done it—made New Year’s resolutions that come March, might as well get thrown in the trash. Thankfully Refrigerated & Frozen Foods makes resolutions that stick. Here’s a rundown of what you, the reader, can expect in 2013:
Redesigned e-newsletter. Our monthly e-newsletter, “What’s Hot in Cold,” underwent an extreme makeover, adding more in-depth real estate and images for hot topics such as supply chain and logistics, food safety, packaging and energy management. Advertisers can choose from a handful of unique ad sizes and placement. And don’t forget to help us re-name this new e-newsletter by answering our poll on www.RFFmag.com.
New retail products. New to the print edition is a section titled, “New Retail Products.” We’ve always placed new retail and foodservice items on our website, but now readers can flip through an assortment of new products by category. (Go to page 21 and check out the assortment of new dairy products set to hit store shelves).
Cold packaging equipment and packaging materials. We’ve taken our traditional Technology Showcase section (which still exists) and broken it into two ADDITIONAL sections—“Cold Packaging Equipment,” which includes profiles and press releases on fillers, depositors, VFFS equipment, traceability and sanitation systems, palletizers, warehousing equipment, conveyors, compressors, belts and formers, and “Cold Packaging Materials,” a section strictly devoted to listing profiles and press releases on cartons, containers, resealable pouches, paperboard films and lids, ovenable and plastic cups and trays and vacuum packaging film. Read on to learn more about fillers and depositors (page 18) and cartons and containers (page 20).
Top 150 Food Processors. To better target our readers, we took the traditional Top 150 Food Processors and split it up to list Top 25 Refrigerated Foods Processors (page 40) and Top 150 Frozen Food Processors (March 2013 issue). Please note: some inaccurate figures were printed in the November 2012 issue, particularly in the dairy and meat/poultry categories. Please go to www.RFFmag.com and check out the revised charts.
Cold storage construction guide. Also new to the print edition is a guide of leading suppliers in the cold storage construction industry. This sub-cover is scheduled to print in our September 2013 issue.
While on our website, please nominate your company or customers for our 2013 Sustainable Supply Chain of the Year. This award honors a cold food processor-shipper for year-over-year carbon footprint reduction.
