Seeking to reclaim the appetites for frozen food that got stoked during the pandemic, the nation’s No. 1 seller of frozen fruit—Wyman’s—is launching a trio of new products nationwide this fall: Fruit First Waffles, Fruit and Peanut Butter Poppers, and Protein Blends for smoothies.
The new product blitz is coming at a time when nearly 30% of Americans have added freezer space to their home and there’s a renewed appetite for frozen fruit.
Wyman's is targeting appetites of two kinds of consumers: health-minded eaters in search of protein-rich snacks, and nutrition-minded parents looking for easy and convenient ways to get their kids the Recommended Daily Allowance of 2 cups of fruit per day. Studies have shown that +60% of kids don’t get the RDA of fruit.
The foray to a new corner of the freezer aisle is a key part of Wyman's efforts to build a sustainable future—not only for the company Jasper Wyman launched in 1874, (now in the 4th generation of family ownership), but the entire industry, which is being impacted by climate change.
Over the past four years, the company has launched four new products, starting with the Just Fruit Cups in 2019. Wyman's has invested in a 35-acre solar array to power its own operations and partnering with scientists to study the impact of a warmer climate with more erratic weather patterns.
