Stellar, a Jacksonville, Fla., design-build firm, said it completed a 260,000-square-foot refrigerated and frozen food distribution center in Rocky Hill, Conn., forBurris Logistics. Burris, Milford, Del., said the site will serve BJ's Wholesale Club and the northeast public refrigerated warehouse market. The location features a 92,000-square-foot freezer (-10F), a 20,000-square-foot convertible room (-20F to +35F), a 4,000-square-foot ice cream room, a 15,000-square-foot meat freezer, a 31,000-square-foot dairy/deli cooler and 15,000-square-foot produce area.
Stellar said it provided a range of services for the project, including real estate acquisition, land utilization and permitting, design, engineering, construction, refrigeration, insulation, roofing and HVAC.
"We've used Stellar exclusively in nine projects out of 10 since 1987," noted Donnie Burris, Burris Logistics' chief operating officer. "We're looking for a good quality building that will last for the long haul. We're comfortable with them because -- even with tight timelines -- Stellar will get the job done."
