Banner-HeraldsaidPilgrim's Pride Corp., Pittsburg, Texas, plans to eliminate a nighttime chicken processing shift at its Athens plant effective February 9, a move that means the loss of nearly 100 jobs. Pilgrim's Pride employs as many as 2,250 people at its Athens-area facilities, including a hatchery and other support operations. . . . TheKansas City Starreported thatButterballLLC, plans March 1 to consolidate two deboning shifts into one at its Carthage, Mo., plant effective March 1. The move will result in Butterball laying off 75 workers.
