United States Cold Storage Inc., Voorhees, N.J., said it expects this July to open a $38 million distribution center in Lebanon, Ind. Located off Interstate Highways 65 and 74, the 6.2 million-cubic-foot site will serve retailers and processors throughout the region, including such metro markets as Indianapolis and Fort Wayne, Ind.; Columbus and Cincinnati, Ohio; and Louisville, Ky.
Officials say Lebanon will have more than 24,000 variable height pallet positions in temperatures ranging from -20F to +55F and be equipped with the latest food safety and security systems. It also will feature a 30-door temperature-controlled truck dock (65 feet wide), an AS400 warehouse management system with radio frequency bar code scanning and eUSCOLD, an internet service with 24/7 online access to account data. Custom handing services will include slip sheeting, order case picking, USDA inspection and US Customs bonded areas.
Officials say USCS' PDQ Logistics and transportation management systems will support customers' regional distribution needs with less-than-truckload freight consolidation, direct-store deliveries and logistics analysis.
