Frozen vegetarian foods processorAmy's Kitchen, Santa Rosa, Calif., expects this spring to open a frozen food plant in Corby, Northamptonshire, U.K., according to a story byFoodManufacture.co.uk.
“We have been exporting Amy’s products to the UK for the past eight
years," said Steve Warnert, director of international business development. "Our decision to set up a production facility here is based on our
sales results and the opportunity we feel is here for the kinds of
foods we offer.
“We’ve received a very positive welcome from customers big and small and
are now in the process of making presentations," he continued. "An exciting part of
this is showing off new packaging that is being created for the UK
market.”
Warnert said Amy's has been supplying such customers as Holland and Barrett, Sainsbury’s, Waitrose, Planet Organic and Fresh and Wild.
Amy's purchased a former factory in Corby last December and has been equipping and preparing it to produce frozen organic vegetarian meals and canned items. Officials expect the operation to employ about 30 people.
Amy's has two U.S. plants in Santa Rosa and Medford, Ore.
