The (Riverside, Calif.) Press-Enterprisereported that Tesco PLC's U.S. fresh retailing chain,Fresh & Easy Neighborhood Market, El Segundo, Calif., plans to acquire the California operations of two food processor suppliers:2 Sisters Food GroupandWild Rocket Foods. Both facilities have belonged to U.K.-based companies. 2 Sisters Food specializes in fresh and prepared chicken products. Wild Rocket Foods supplies produce, fresh-cut produce and other refrigerated items such as fresh salsa, dips, and fresh-squeezed juices. Terms of the deal -- subject to regulatory approval -- were not disclosed. Spokesman Brendan Wonnacott told the newspaper that the deal will allow Fresh & Easy to expand its "meals-to-go" options.

Refrigerated dressings, dips and sauces processorLitehouse, Inc., Sandpoint, Idaho, said it purchasedGreen Garden Foods, a Seattle competitor supplying the U.S. and Canadian retail, foodservice and commercial sectors. "With the addition of Green Garden, Litehouse will be able to facilitate expanded growth and innovation through new production capabilities and product knowledge. Litehouse will make use of the expanded production capabilities through consolidation into its Sandpoint, Idaho, and Lowell, Mich., facilities," officials said.
