Private equity investorMason Wells, Milwaukee, said it completed two deals in December: one involving thermoform plastic tray and packaging supplierMullinix Packages Inc.; and the other for meat processorEddy Packing Co. Inc.
Mason Wells said it purchased Mullinix, Ft. Wayne, Ind., for an undisclosed amount from founder George Lueken. Officials said the business will be owned by Mason Wells and company management, including Mullinix President & CEO Gene Gentili. Mullinix supplies food trays, clamshells, lids and cups to industrial food processors as well as foodservice and retail end customers.
Mason Wells' other portfolio packaging companies includeCoating Excellence International, LLC, Wrightstown, Wis.;NEX Performance Films, Inc., Milton, Wis.; andOliver Products Company, Grand Rapids, Mich.
In a separate announcement, Mason Wells said it bought Eddy Packing, a Yoakum, Texas, processor of fresh and frozen beef pork and poultry items for private label retail and foodservice customers. Terms were not disclosed. Business owners include Mason Wells, company management and outside co-investors.
Officials noted thatScott McNair, a CPG veteran with experience from Schwan's, Tyson and ConAgra, joined the company as chief executive officer. Ronald Beeman, who has owned Eddy since 1988, will continue as an investor and member of the board of directors.
