More than ever, tough economic times have consumers looking for restaurant-quality options to make at home. These bite-size appetizers are available in three “adult-oriented” fillings including Cheese & Spinach, Mozzarella & Pepperoni and Buffalo Style Chicken.
“Our research showed adults were looking for ways to reconnect with their spouses, family and friends at the end of the day,” says Pillsbury Savorings Marketing Manager Jay Picconatto. “And a food product that was easy and quick to prepare could make getting together easier.”
Picconatto says the appetizers are ready in just 20 minutes - from freezer to oven to table.
“Consumers want to enjoy the same great appetizers at home as they eat in restaurants,” he adds. “Pillsbury Savorings are a convenient and economical option for at home entertaining. The product is perfect to enjoy with someone else over wine or to share at a party.”
In fact, a promotional tie-in with Vendange Wines is part of the marketing campaign for Savorings. In addition, Savorings Web site lists suggested wine pairings for each Savorings variety.
“Pillsbury Savorings target adults with and without kids,” Picconatto says. “These consumers are accustomed to interesting and great-tasting appetizers that are generally too complex to make at home from scratch.”
General Mills offers the bite-sized hors d’oeuvres in 8.5-ounce, 12-piece packages. Since August, Savorings have been available in retail freezercases nationwide.
