Nation Pizza and Foods, Schaumburg, Ill., will shutter one of its McPherson, Kan., plant, effective May 19. It employs 95 full-time and 20-100 temporary workers.
Nation Pizza and Foods acquired the McPherson plant in 2002 when the company expanded its capabilities to co-extruded items.
The 100,000-square-foot plant consists of two USDA-inspected production lines that can produce more than 1 million pieces a day combined. Line one produces gourmet pizzas and appetizers and line two is said to be one of the country’s few USD- inspected co-extruded bakery line that makes calzones, strombolis, small appetizer items and filled cookies. Some of that production will move to the main plant in Schaumburg.
