Creation Gardens, Inc., a Louisville, Ky.-based wholesale food distributor of quality products such as produce, gourmet food, dairy, meats and restaurant staple items, acquired Mattingly Foods, a high-quality meat provider also headquartered in Louisville, Ky. This acquisition now provides Creation Gardens with a growing customer base of high-quality meats, including beef, chicken, pork and lamb.
“The addition of Mattingly Foods presents a fabulous opportunity for us and our restaurants, as they will now be able to get meats daily through our produce service model,” says Ron Turnier, president and CFO of Creation Gardens. “Creation Gardens has been looking to add high-quality meats to our menu of wholesale foods for several years now, and we couldn’t have found a better company to fit the bill. With Mattingly, we will get to join forces with some of the great families of Louisville’s rich food history—A. Thomas, Dawson and Baker. Additionally, we have lined up several local meat producers in Kentucky, Indiana and Tennessee to further our restaurants’ desire for more local foods.”
Mattingly Foods provides filet mignon, porterhouse, ribeye, roasts, burgers and pork chops to over 450 customers throughout Kentucky, Indiana, Tennessee and Ohio. It maintains 67 employees, who will all be rolled into Creation Gardens’ workforce.
Creation Gardens boasts 173 employees and a fleet of 57 delivery trucks that distribute a wide range of food products seven days a week to over 1,700 restaurants and foodservice businesses in the Louisville, Lexington, Evansville, Owensboro, Bowling Green, Nashville and Cincinnati markets.
