American Industrial Systems, Inc. (AIS), Irvine, Calif., introduced a new series of M2M touch-screen HMIs and operator-controlled embedded systems for packaging, robotic automation, product inspection and material handling applications. A local supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) system combined with AIS's web-based, M2M HMI touch panels are said to make manufacturing plants more efficient, productive and safe.

These touch panels are used for a variety of activities and tasks, including part selection, diagnostics and system status, data collection, processing, analysis and reporting.

These M2M touch screen HMIs integrate data from many sources throughout the plant enterprise to be transferred to a historian, which becomes a repository for archiving information.
