Blue Bell Creameries LP, Brenham, Texas, tapped Chicago-based Mérieux NutriSciences as its partner in improving food safety programs and services. 

In April, Blue Bell issued a voluntary recall of ice cream, frozen yogurt, sherbet and frozen snacks and shut down operations due to the potential of being contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes. Since then, Mérieux NutriSciences has assisted Blue Bell with food safety and quality programs, ranging from in-plant consultation, laboratory testing services, research studies and environmental monitoring program design.  

Blue Bell will also be utilizing Mérieux NutriSciences’ EnviroMap software in each of its three dairies. EnviroMap is a state-of-the-art software solution that allows Blue Bell to manage, monitor and track the microbial environment within a production site.
