Cado Desserts, Fairfield, Iowa, created what is said to be the first non-dairy, avocado-based ice cream.

Available in Deep Dark Chocolate, Mint Chocolate Chip and Simply Lemon, this new ice cream is made from a nutrient-dense avocado base and the highest quality organic ingredients. Each batch of organic avocados is fully ripened and cold processed. Plus, every pint is certified-USDA organic, vegan, gluten-free, soy-free, dairy-free, and nut-free.

"Our avocado base provides a creamy canvas for traditional ice cream flavors like mint chocolate chip and dark chocolate as well as completely new flavors that accent the avocado like our Simply Lemon," says co-founder Jack Dowd. "Cado is an entirely new kind of ice cream."

This avocado-based ice cream is available in all Whole Food Markets locations, many independent health markets and select Hy-vee stores across the Midwest.
