Weber Scientific, Hamilton, N.J., released a new PCR test for finished dairy products.

The foodproof yeast and mold quantification test, developed by BIOTECON Diagnostics, Potsdam, Germany, produces results in less than 4 hours, considered a major breakthrough in testing for micro-organisms.

This test is based on well-established real-time PCR technology, where results are displayed in CFU per gram.
