Naked Bacon, Ste. Genevieve, Mo., is participating in the SmartLabel initiative with the launch of SmartLabel pages for its bacon products.
Label Insight's SmartLabel solution, SmartSPEC, helps consumer packaged goods companies and private label brands participate in the SmartLabel initiative, which provides a comprehensive set of tools that brands can use to deliver more transparency about their products to consumers.
"Our customers buy our products because of what we stand for, both in terms of what our products are about and their flavor profiles," says John Kreilich, president and founder of Naked Bacon. "Consumers appreciate that our bacon is made in small batches with all-natural ingredients. Providing complete transparency to current and potential consumers through the SmartLabel initiative will truly distinguish us from competitors by offering consumers a look into our products beyond the physical package label in a quick and easy to use digital format."
SmartLabel, developed by the Trading Partner Alliance, an affairs-industry relations leadership group formed by the Grocery Manufacturers Association, Washington, D.C., and the Food Marketing Institute, Arlington, Va., digitally houses extended nutritional information, ingredients, allergens, third-party certifications and more.
"SmartLabel allows us to provide customers with extended product information such as where ingredients are sourced, how the manufacturing process works and what certifications the company and our products have earned," says Kreilich. "For Naked Bacon, participating in SmartLabel was an easy decision. Onboarding products into SmartLabel was incredibly seamless, and the platform will be a big differentiator for us moving forward."
"We've seen a seismic shift in terms of what consumers expect from food companies in terms of product information," says Ronak Sheth, chief customer officer for Label Insight, Chicago. "We're excited to help Naked Bacon provide more transparency about their food to gain customer trust and loyalty, ultimately leading to a larger customer base."
