Port of Long Beach, Long Beach, Calif., opened Port of Long Beach Academy of Global Logistics at Cabrillo High School, also in Long Beach, opening a new pathway to careers in international trade for young students.
The 4-year academy, conducted in partnership with the Long Beach Unified School District, is a “linked learning” school that brings together college prep academics, technical education and work-based training opportunities to prepare students for success in college, careers and life.
“This is an exciting day,” says Lou Anne Bynum, vice president of the Board of Harbor Commissioners. “Our goal with the academy is to inspire students to explore careers in the international trade and goods movement industry right in their backyard. We’d like to thank the school district for teaming up to develop the port leaders of the future.”
