TRANSPORTATION MANAGEMENT SYSTEM
3Gtms, Inc., Shelton, Conn., released version 16.1 of its 3G-TM transportation management system (TMS) software.
Key features include:
- Carrier web service rating automates the traditionally time-consuming work of ensuring contracts are entered and maintained accurately for proper rating. This new feature facilitates the rating request and response transaction to/from the format(s) required for 3G-TM and each carrier’s web service.
- Broadcast spot offer provides the ability to publish a load to collect spot quotes from one or more carriers. Carriers may respond to the request through the 3G-TM Carrier Portal, after which the user can choose the desired spot quote option and assign the rate and carrier to the load.
- Ad hoc reporting introduces additional data security controls to allow users operating in the multi-tenant SaaS environment to leverage self-service, custom report development.
- Internationalization and localization offers geodata sets for regions outside North America, more options for data formatting, VAT calculations and options to use a currency other than the U.S. dollar.
- Enhanced inbound vendor portal supports improved user and vendor/supplier collaboration, including requests for routing and issuing routing instructions for inbound collect shipments.
- 3Gtms also opened its first overseas office to serve shippers and LSPs across Europe.

MATERIAL HANDLING, LOAD CONTAINMENT SOLUTIONS
Signode Industrial Group, Glenview, Ill., displayed a variety of its material handling and load containment solutions.
Among the innovations on display was Muller’s Octopus “1825 B” automatic rotary ring stretch wrapper, designed to accommodate a wide range of pallet load sizes and a variety of applications.
Also new is Loveshaw’s LDX RTB, a random automatic case sealer developed specifically for customers seeking a case sealer that processes random size cases without an operator. This durable machine can process weak, void and overstuffed cases at high speeds. It features an expansive case range, easy access to motors, electrical and belts and operation from all sides with moveable controls.
Signode’s MOD-GPX strapping machine features a modular design that provides flexibility and longevity for general purpose strapping machines. Each module can be quickly replaced for desired upgrades or maintenance without disrupting production. Locator plates, latches and electrical quick-disconnects ensure secure and precise alignment. The MOD-GPX is available in stainless or industrial grade steel with automatic or semiautomatic configurations. It features built-in diagnostics to simplify troubleshooting and minimize downtime. The human machine interface (HMI) recognizes and identifies problem areas instantly to enable immediate correction.
Shippers Products also introduced the battery-powered INSTA-AIR dunnage airbag inflator, which allows users to inflate airbags without air lines or air compressors.
And, Shippers Products displayed its Zebra Lightweight Paper Airbags, made of 100% recyclable materials. Airbag ends are double-end folded and sealed with beads of adhesive, resulting in simple yet effective damage prevention. The patented Zebra stripes ensure proper airbag installation. If the stripes are touching the edges of the void, it is installed correctly. If the stripes are not touching, the void is too large, and additional dunnage is needed to reduce the void.

DATA-DRIVEN FLEET MANAGEMENT SOLUTIONS
Yale Materials Handling, Greenville, N.C., displayed its team of data-driven fleet management solutions.
Robotic lift trucks
Driven by Balyo technology, produced by Balyo Inc., Boston, transforms Yale lift trucks into self-navigating, infrastructure-free robotic solutions – no tape, wire or magnets required.
Lift truck simulator
Virtual reality technology helps ease the learning curve associated with lift truck operator training. Simulators assist in training and re-training without risking unnecessary damage to the truck, facility infrastructure and other equipment, while boosting operator confidence and productivity.
Wireless asset management
Yale Vision helps protect assets and optimize productivity by monitoring equipment, truck and driver performance to help minimize total cost of operation.
Lithium-ion power
Yale offers what is said to be the first UL-recognized lithium-ion battery in the lift truck industry. The lithium-ion option requires no maintenance and lasts longer than AGM or lead acid battery packs.
Hydrogen fuel cell technology
Zero-emission fuel cell technology and on-site hydrogen generation from Nuvera Fuel Cells LLC, Billerica, Mass., combined with Yale lift trucks enable complete turnkey solutions to reduce emissions and improve performance.
Yale also demonstrated its reach truck simulator, designed to help operations screen applicants prior to hiring, gain a clearer view of capability and place new hires in roles best suited to their skill sets.

TOW TRACTOR AUTOMATED LIFT TRUCK
The Raymond Corp., Greene, N.Y., collaborated with Seegrid Corp., Pittsburgh, Pa., to introduce the Raymond Courier 3020 tow tractor automated lift truck, designed to automate horizontal towing in a number of operations, including the transfer of parts to production lines and finished goods to warehouse facilities. Towing up to 10,000 pounds, the Raymond Courier 3020 combines Seegrid’s expertise in automation with Raymond’s end-to-end warehouse solutions and lift truck proficiency. The Raymond Courier 3020 features the Raymond ACR System, which delivers longer battery life with precise speed control and less downtime, and the iWAREHOUSE fleet management system, which manages time in automated mode (man-off) vs manual mode (man-on).
Meanwhile, iWAREHOUSE Evolution is a single, scalable solution that provides vital analytics tools for warehouse managers, allowing them to promote operator accountability and monitor compliance, risk management and metrics for their industrial vehicle fleet, operators and batteries.
Raymond also launched the Pick2Pallet LED light system, designed to help improve customer productivity and reduce picking errors. The patent-pending Pick2Pallet LED light system maximizes productivity by directing operators where to place picked product through visual, colored light cues that work in tandem with voice picking solutions.
Also, Seegrid’s Supervisor software provides an intuitive yet robust business rule framework for easily integrating automation into existing operational systems.
Furthermore, Raymond developed a new virtual reality (VR) training technology, where operators use a lift truck in simulation mode, through Raymond’s sPort, to train on pre-programmed exercises in a warehouse environment. After operators secure a VR headset, the technology connects to Raymond lift trucks and helps users navigate through the VR experience.
Finally, Raymond showcased its Radioshuttle semi-automated pallet storage and retrieval system, designed to maximize warehouse space by offering ultra-high density storage with access to individual storage lanes. The Radioshuttle unit can be loaded into storage lanes, take commands from a remote control and execute orders to load or unload pallets into a lane.
