The planned development The Carolinas Gateway Partnership, Rocky Mount, N.C.; Tarboro, N.C.; and Lionchase Holdings, Inc., Washington, D.C., agreed upon the planned development of a 200,000-square-foot commercial cold storage facility.
This state-of-the-art cold storage facility is situated in Edgecombe County, N.C., in close proximity to Raleigh Durham International airport, two major shipping ports and a new intermodal facility serving the East Coast. The project will commence this summer with a planned completion timeline of 18 months.
The goal of the new development is two-fold—attract international and national companies needing large-scale cold storage capabilities for produce, meat and other industries, and to accelerate economic and employment growth opportunities in Nash and Edgecombe counties. The $22.7 million Tarboro development is expected to create at least 100 permanent, full-time jobs.
“The beauty of this development is that it will quickly attract quality industries to the area while improving the economic viability for local residents,” says Ken Brown, managing partner of Lionchase Holdings.
Completion of the new facility is anticipated by Dec. 31, 2018.
