Tetra Pak, Vernon Hills, Ill., partnered with Vinamilk, a Vietnam-based dairy processor, to build what is dubbed as the world’s most advanced liquid dairy plant in automation and integration in Vietnam.
Known as the Vietnam Milk Factory, this $110 million facility, which covers 20 hectares in Binh Duong Province, produces an annual capacity of 400 million liters of milk in the first phase. Advanced technologies include Tetra Pak’s A3/speed filling machines, Tetra Pak’s A1 filling machines and a complete lineup of iLine XT solutions with 14 laser guided vehicles with iWMS, i.e., intermediate warehouse management software and the Tetra PlantMaster system, which enables Vinamilk to have entire control of the plant from incoming raw materials to the processed, packaged and palletized products.
“The Vietnam Milk Factory is by far the most advanced plant in automation and integration that Tetra Pak has ever built,” says Bert Jan Post, managing director of Tetra Pak Vietnam. “And, thanks to the Tetra PlantMaster system, all of the individual machines are working together ‘as one’ to deliver optimal performance, with factory-wide integration ensuring high levels of efficiency and uncompromising food safety.”
“Vinamilk’s mission is to provide world-class quality milk products at an affordable price,” adds Madam Mai Kiều Liên, Vinamilk’s chairwoman and general director. “This new plant has laid solid foundation for Vinamilk to achieve our goals to become one of the world’s Top 50 dairies with over $3 billion revenues by 2017.”
