Deli Brands of America (DBA), Baltimore, Md., opened a 19,000-square-foot space in the Lansdowne section of Baltimore County. DBA, the processing subsidiary of Saval Foods Corp., Elkridge, Md., will utilize the new facility to support its current operation that produces and distributes deli meats, entrées and custom-cut steaks.
The new facility, which is expected to be operational in first quarter 2018, will house approximately 12 employees, and will be utilized for deli meat slicing functions, as well as to handle all outbound freight and logistics.
Founded in 1932, DBA produces and distributes a variety of deli products, including corned beef, pastrami, roast beef, as well as the Honest to Goodness Natural Deli brand, made with all-natural ingredients. The company also markets beef, pork, veal and lamb products, as well as family recipes that feature sliced meatloaf, corned beef hash, roasted pork loin and gourmet pot roast. DBA sells to distributors, chain restaurants, retail foodservice and industrial food users throughout the Mid-Atlantic region, as well as national accounts across the United States.
The single-story, 32,800-square-foot flex/warehouse building offers 20-foot ceiling heights, dock and load-in doors, an open, flexible floorplan and free surface parking. It’s also located within close proximity to Interstates 95 and 695 near the intersection of Washington Boulevard and Caton Avenue and is 5 miles from the Baltimore-Washington International Airport.
“After an extensive real estate search that extended through several counties, it became apparent that 1705 Twin Springs Road satisfied each important criteria for this new requirement, highlighted by its close proximity to our existing two facilities,” says Jeff Saval, president of DBA. “As a producer of perishable products, it is critical to minimize travel times and make timely deliveries to our growing customer base throughout the Mid-Atlantic region as well as national accounts throughout the United States. The highly-developed transportation network servicing this building met our stringent criteria. The building location is also convenient to our existing employees and provides us access to a highly-skilled base to recruit new workers in the future.”
