Church Brothers Farms, Salinas, Calif., developed a new value-added broccoli stem product with the goal of reducing food waste and increasing grower yields.
CarGoldMex is starting to pack broccoli at the new facility, and will process various other fruits and vegetables, including asparagus, bell peppers and strawberries at different times throughout the year.

CarbAmericas, a Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.-based importer of fresh fruits and vegetables, inaugurated a facility through a partnership with CarGoldMex, a grower shipper and packer of Mexican fruits and vegetables located in Irapuato, Mexico.
Duda Farm Fresh Foods, Oviedo, Fla., partnered with Litehouse Foods, Sandpoint, Idaho, to develop a new limited-edition Dandy Celery and Blue Cheese Snack Cup.
The 128,000-square-foot facility, which is situated on about 11 acres, was previously owned and operated by affiliates of the former Fresh & Easy Neighborhood Markets.

Calavo Growers, Inc., Santa Paula, Calif., completed the purchase of a production facility in Riverside, Calif., to further enhance the national footprint for the company’s Renaissance Food Group, LLC (RFG) business segment.
The firm also announced it will use “Misionero” as the new business name encompassing all of its brands and products.

Harbinger Group LLC, the Monterey, Calif., parent company of Green Wave Farms, Vertical Foods, Epic Foods and Fresh Produce Partners, acquired organic specialty salad pioneer Misionero Vegetables, Gonzales, Calif., effective immediately.
The first phase of the construction will be a cooling and shipping facility.
