WCS Logistics, a Winchester Cold Storage Company, is expanding its business with the opening of a new 83,000-square-foot cold storage facility. The facility will be conveniently positioned near the Interstate-81 corridor and the Virginia Inland Port.

The development will offer customers flexible temperature-controlled solutions and is expected to bring 15-20 new jobs to the region. This will be the third-party logistics and warehousing service provider’s fifth facility, adding to its portfolio of more than 900,000 square feet of space servicing the East Coast. 

“WCS Logistics is proud to announce this investment in our newest facility,” said Peter Yates, chief operating officer of WCS Logistics. “This is our second expansion in the cold storage market in the last five years, and we are excited to be able to better serve our existing customers and to offer our services to others we have not had the capacity to assist with their third-party logistics needs.”

The state-of-the-art facility will include 68,750 square feet of freezer space with 43-foot clear height, allowing for over 13,000 pallet positions. Additional facility features include an 8,750-square-foot cold dock, 12 dock positions, insulated metal panel (IMP) construction, and a CO₂ cascade refrigeration system.  

ARCO National Construction, a nationwide leader in construction of cold storage facilities, is providing design-build services for the project.

The project is located at 188 Brooke Road, Winchester, Virginia 22603. A groundbreaking ceremony is set to take place in March.
