Turkey processing leader Butterball LLC said it recently honored East Coast Transport, LLC, Paulsboro, N.J., as Butterball's 2010 "Carrier of the Year."
Butterball said it began the award last in 2009 to "recognize the accomplishments of the carrier who best supports [Butterball's] strategic initiative of achieving operational excellence in logistics. Butterball’s program rates carriers on five key objectives related to service, communication, flexibility, value (priced competitively) and administration (safety, claims and billing accuracy).
"East Coast Transport met or exceeded expectations across all five key objectives and scored higher than all other carriers," said Dan DiGrazio, Butterball's director of logistics. "East Coast Transport has been a valuable partner of Butterball’s since 2008."
Third-party logistics and supply chain management services provider Weber Logistics, Santa Fe Springs, Calif., said it hired Mike Accomando as vice president, transportation services. Officials said Accomando will lead Weber’s Transportation Division which includes temperature-controlled and dry LTL, same-day and truckload services, as well as pool distribution, cross-docking/transloading, port drayage, logistics and nationwide transportation. He also manages Weber’s customer service team, service center, and fleet of more than 350 refrigerated and dry vans and trailers.
Accomando has more than 28 years in the industry and most recently worked for R+L Carriers as regional director, operations based in Houston.
