Food tech startup Aqua Cultured Foods has signed a Proof of Concept (PoC) with Switzerland-based retailer Migros, to advance the development of seafood alternatives with a realistic taste and texture.
The findings reveal that mislabeling happens before fish are imported into Canada, as well as throughout the supply chain.

Canada continue to have a problem with fish mislabeling, and the problem persists throughout the supply chain, according to a first-ever study produced by University of Guelph (U of G), Canada.
The approved facilities are located in British Columbia, Alberta, Manitoba, Quebec, New Brunswick, Newfoundland and Labrador and Nova Scotia.

VersaCold Logistics Services, Canada, announced that as of Jan. 1, 11 of its refrigerated warehousing facilities received approval to export fish to the People’s Republic of China, while six more have been approved to export fish to the European Union (EU).
The assets purchased include one hatchery in New Brunswick, two farming licenses in New Brunswick, seven farming licenses in Newfoundland and one processing plant in Newfoundland.

Canada-based Marine Harvest was nominated to acquire all assets owned by the Gray Aqua Group of Cos., Canada.
By virtue of the acquisition, Blue Harvest will begin marketing and distributing company-landed scallops, bluefin tuna and swordfish directly to customers.
