Revol Greens’ national growth strategy continues with the inaugural planting at its recently completed greenhouse in Tehachapi, California. In mid-September, the first harvest of a wide variety of organic baby leaf and head lettuce will follow inside the first phase of Revol Greens’ 64-acre greenhouse. Saputo has completed the acquisition of the Carolina Aseptic and Carolina Dairy businesses formerly operated by AmeriQual Group Holdings. These businesses, which join Saputo’s Dairy Division (USA) under its USA Sector, are conducted at two facilities in North Carolina and employ approximately 230 people. The purchase price of US$118 million (approximately CDN$149 million), on a cash-free and debt-free basis, was paid in cash at closing.

North Carolina Ports has reached an agreement with Cold Summit Development to build a 280,000 square foot multi-suite cold storage facility located on the Ports Raleigh Street property. The facility would offer 40,000 pallet positions and could house a broad range of product categories, including pork, poultry, produce, grocery as well as life sciences at temperatures ranging from negative 20 degrees Fahrenheit to 57 degrees Fahrenheit.
Tyson Foods will invest $300 million to construct a 325,000-square-foot, state-of-the-art production facility in Cane Creek Centre, an industrial park jointly owned by the City of Danville and Pittsylvania County in Virginia. The new facility will be used primarily for the production of fully cooked Tyson products like Any’tizer Snacks and Chicken Nuggets. The company has committed to purchasing 60 million pounds of Virginia-grown chicken over the next three years. Virginia successfully competed with North Carolina for the project, which will create 376 new jobs.
