Smithfield Foods announced it has appointed Shane Smith, a two-decade veteran of the company and, most recently, its chief strategy officer, as president and chief executive officer, effective immediately. Mr. Smith will succeed Dennis Organ, who is stepping down for personal reasons.
Tyson Foods announced today that COO Donnie King has been named President and CEO, effective immediately. Current President and CEO Dean Banks is leaving the company and board for personal reasons.
The Los Angeles Dodgers announced a multi-year partnership with Vernon, California-based Papa Cantella’s to supply Dodger Stadium with Dodger Dogs and its premium sausages. Papa Cantella’s products, including Dodger Dogs, have been sold at Dodger Stadium since Opening Day and packaged Dodger Dogs will also be available at retail grocery locations throughout Southern California.
Monogram Foods has started construction on a new 135,000-square-foot production facility in Creek Brook Park, Haverhill, Massachusetts. Monogram has plant and warehousing facilities in Indiana, Iowa, Minnesota, Virginia and Wisconsin. This is Monogram’s 3rd Massachusetts location, and will feature 109,000 square feet of multi-temperature warehouse space, plus a 26,000-square-foot sandwich assembly area. The facility is expected to be completed by mid-2022.

Hormel announced the appointments of Jeff Frank to vice president of Grocery Products, leading the strategic integration of the Planters and Corn Nuts brands into Hormel Foods. The Planters and Corn Nuts acquisition was announced on February 11, and is expected to be completed by the summer. Frank currently serves as vice president of marketing for the Foodservice business within Hormel Foods. Additionally, Annemarie Vaupel, currently director of marketing for the Foodservice division, will advance to vice president of marketing for the Foodservice division.

Hormel Foods announced that Glenn Leitch, executive vice president of supply chain, will retire during the second calendar quarter of 2021. Mark Coffey, currently senior vice president of supply chain and manufacturing for Hormel Foods, will advance to group vice president of supply chain and will lead the company's global supply chain. Additionally, Jen Ehresmann was named to vice president of supply chain. The company's supply chain includes more than 30 production facilities and co-packing partners, producing thousands of products sold worldwide.
Jensen Meat, a Southern California-based processor of ground beef, is currently expanding both its facilities and its team to manage co-packing opportunities for plant-based beef alternatives. To accelerate production, Jensen has already broken ground on its new processing plant which will also create new jobs when complete.
