The estimated $200M greenfield project will be strategically located to efficiently access raw material and leverage synergies with existing corporate assets. Tyson Foods announced Dean Banks will succeed Noel White as Chief Executive Officer (CEO), while maintaining the role of President, effective October 3, 2020. White, who led Tyson through a period of unprecedented volatility and uncertainty when he assumed the CEO role in 2018, will remain with Tyson in a new role as Executive Vice Chairman of the board of directors.
As part of its commitment to team member safety and continually evolving efforts to protect workers from COVID-19, Tyson Foods is launching a new, industry-leading monitoring program and expanding its occupational health staff, including a new chief medical officer position.

As healthcare workers across the country continue to face shortages of personal protective equipment (PPE), Smithfield Foods is supporting local communities by donating excess face shields to healthcare workers at nursing homes and local hospitals as part of their COVID-19 relief efforts.
John Soules Foods donated 168,000 pounds of prepared chicken and beef products to the East Texas Food Bank in its hometown of Tyler, Texas, near Dallas, and an additional 37,400 pounds to the Montgomery County Food Bank in Conroe, Texas, near Houston.

Smithfield Foods will suspend operations at its Monmouth, Illinois, facility beginning next week and until further notice after a small portion of its 1,700 employees tested positive for COVID-19. The Monmouth plant represents approximately 3% of U.S. fresh pork supplies and also produces bacon. Employees will be paid during the closure.
